Laughter is the Best Medicine??

Even though laughter is the best medicine, it does not always mean that jokes always bring out good results as we expect to see. There are so many groups of people out there who came from different walks of life, that had brought them with so many different kind of personalities. Due to these wide ranges of personalities, that we have to be smart enough to project jokes to them, as our intention normally lies at extracting positive acceptance from them.

Jokes definitely are something that form a part of our daily routine. It takes on at wherever we are, be it at school, at work, at gym, at restaurants or even at a "serious" place like at work...not forgetting it even happens at home. Sometimes we get good results, but sometimes we do get bad acceptance too!

I was at a wedding reception yesterday where I was told about how one friend got offended by a joke another friend projected. This joke was transpired by an sms. This joke mentioned something about bonus money received by person B that was given by person A. Person A and Person B are both a CEO of a company they run together. I don't have the exact words but the sms went on something like this:

Person A : Where are you? I don't see you here at my kenduri.
Person B : I can't be there. I am attending another kenduri now.
Person A : You should know that your CEO's kenduri is your priority...as this CEO that had paid up your bonus recently...

All I was told after this, was that Person B got really offended by Person A's statement. But actually Person A said he was just making a joke and didn't really meant what he said.

Hearing on to this, I came to a thought that we ought to be wise enough to pick the right words, the right topics and the right statement in projecting our jokes. In normal cases, jokes are made with many intentions...

To ease the stress level...
To alleviate the motivation in oneself...
To steer away fear...
To deliver indirect and meaningful messages...
To purposely offend another...
To make fun of others...
many many more...from the positive to the negatives...

As a general rule, make jokes where every possibilities permit. But be wise on choosing from the many to avoid offending others with them. The last thing we ever want to happen to us, or to someone we know, is to be humiliated by someone else's joke...be it publicly or even just between two persons...

Our goal is to strengthen the "sillaturrahim" and not creating wider gaps of it...

So, get and be SMART with your jokes peeps!
